With heavy rain, DM orders Almora schools to shut on Saturday

ALMORA: Goverment and private schools and colleges till class 12 will be closed on Saturday, because of heavy and incessant rain, district magistrate Binod Kumar Suman said.Many roads are blocked, and some houses were damaged in the heavy rain that lashed Almora district over the last two days. Two people sustained injuries. Many schools shut after lunch on Friday, so children could reach home safe.With the met department forecasting even more rain, the district magistrate asked all schools to stay shut on Saturday.In view of the weather forecast given by met department, the DM of Almora asked all schools to remain closed on Saturday. However, teaching and administrative staff have not been given the day off. Teachers and staff in the more difficult-to-access villages of the district may find it hard to get to school, given the condition of the roads.Shops started shutting down before 6 pm. Government employees also rushed home early because of the rain.
